The American Alpine Institute put up a good article on how to rig up an expedition sled to your standard hiking or expedition backpack.I think it's important to note that expedition sleds can greatly decrease the load on week long expeditions especially during harsh winter conditions where gear naturally is heavier and food quantities increase.
Best thing about this sled rigging is that you can take turns if you have a partner as well rig to a rope up for challenging terrain.
